Watch Eddi Reader read a story for young children all about being yourself

Fairground Attraction frontwoman, Eddi Reader, is the next celebrity to join our Give the Love of Reading Campaign with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Scottish singer-songwriter and book-lover Eddi says she is delighted to back the partnership.

Eddi said: “Books are amazing things because they help us practice our imagination. When you’re reading a book, you can imagine a different world to the one you’re in, and children can imagine all the brilliant things they can do. The book I chose, Super Duper You, let’s kids know that they’re special just by being themselves.”

“I’m so excited to be reading this month’s bedtime story to support Children 1st and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and I hope it inspires lots of children to practice their imagination and get creative.”

We are thrilled to have support from Eddi – and we hope that other avid readers will join her in supporting our campaign to ‘Give the love of reading’ to children in Scotland, who would otherwise miss out.

 A parent whose child has been receiving books said: “I think all children should get to have a story at bedtime. Getting books in the post addressed to my son is really exciting for him. Having a new book keeps it fresh and stops kids getting bored listening to the same story all the time. It’s been great for my son and even for his older siblings too, as they’re enjoying reading the new stories to their little brother.”
