Job Title: People and Culture Officer
Reference number: CF25/28
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow
Closing Date: 16th September 2025
Interview Date: It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Thursday 25th September
Salary: £30,002 - £35,076
Post Type: Full-time

Do you want to help create an outstanding workplace where our people can thrive?

At Children First, Scotland’s national children’s charity, we stand up for children, keep them safe, and support families to thrive. We are now looking for a confident, organised, and tech-curious People & Culture Officer to join our friendly People & Culture team on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave.

The Role

This post will support the day-to-day running of our HR and learning systems, employee lifecycle administration, and first-line People queries. You will also contribute to process improvement and help ensure our systems and tools are used effectively across the organisation.

You will:

·       Lead on the day-to-day management of our HR system (Personio) and support the rollout and maintenance of our Learning Management System (LMS).

·       Maintain accurate employee records, workflows, and templates, and ensure GDPR compliance.

·       Prepare contracts, offer letters, onboarding materials, and support offboarding processes.

·       Track key dates such as probation reviews, appraisals, and training completion.

·       Respond to employee queries with warmth and professionalism, signposting as needed.

·       Support Learning & Development coordination, including scheduling sessions, tracking completion, and gathering feedback.

·       Contribute to process improvements to make HR systems and administration more efficient and user-friendly.

This is a great opportunity if you enjoy a role that combines structure with variety, and if you want to develop your HR, systems, and process skills while working in a supportive, values-led environment.

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

·       Previous experience in HR, People Administration, or HR Systems roles, supporting the full employee cycle.

·       Confidence using HR systems (Personio or similar) and a curiosity for digital tools.

·       Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

·       A calm, friendly communication style (written and verbal).

·       A proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to handle confidential information.

·       Team player attitude and a willingness to support colleagues where needed.

·       Desirable: CIPD Level 3 or equivalent HR qualification; experience managing an LMS; experience in a fixed-term or cover role.

What You Can Expect from Us

·       Contract: Fixed-term (Maternity Cover until Oct 2026)

·       Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow (flexible working available)

·       Salary: Starting salary £30,002 (scale £30,002 - £35,076)

·       Annual Leave: 40 days (inclusive public holidays)

·       Pension and Wellbeing Support

·       A welcoming, supportive team and opportunities to develop skills in HR systems, learning, and process improvement.

·       The chance to make a real difference in how we support our people across the organisation.

 Our Values

Living our values, you will help create a workplace where our people can thrive, ensuring we deliver the best possible support to children and families. With love, we put children first. With purpose, we transform lives together. With strength, we do whatever it takes to protect Scotland’s children.

 How to Apply

If you share our values and are passionate about supporting our people, we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 16th September 2025

Interviews: Thursday 25th September 2025
